Generators for mobile concrete plants

A generator for mobile concrete plants provides reliable power for the technology in the field and in operations away from a stable connection. We design a suitable solution based on the output, technology type, duty regime and the specific conditions of deployment.

  • Indicative range 200–750 kVA
  • Container and trailer executions
  • Primary and standby duty

Why reliable power matters for mobile concrete plants

Every location is different — somewhere a connection is available, elsewhere not. A correctly designed generator removes this dependency and keeps the concrete plant running regardless of the state of the infrastructure.

A smaller mobile concrete plant on a family-house site has different requirements than a large technological unit for an infrastructure project. A precise design always starts from the specific technology and the way it is deployed.

The indicative range of 200–750 kVA applies to typical operations. A plant with accessories, winter operation with heating or special technology may require different sizing. We arrange transport, placement, electrical connection and commissioning at the place of deployment — we take over the whole coordination.

What an outage or unstable supply causes

No source, no site

A mobile concrete plant stands where it is needed — not where the nearest connection is. Without its own source, operation in the field or on remote sites is impossible.

Project schedule

The plant works in the rhythm of the construction. Every downtime caused by insufficient power is reflected in the schedule and cost of the whole project.

Desynchronised production

Mixing, dosing, weighing and control systems must work synchronised. Unstable or insufficient power disrupts the whole production cycle of the plant.

Concrete delivery delays

On-site concrete production is tied to the construction schedule. An outage at a critical moment can delay the whole project.

Lost batch

Fresh concrete mix has limited workability. An interruption of production or mixer cooling at the wrong moment can mean the loss of the whole batch.

Flexibility preserved

A mobile concrete plant brings the advantage of production close to the construction. Its own power source preserves this flexibility without dependence on the availability of the distribution grid.

When a generator for a mobile concrete plant is a suitable solution

Sites without a connection

Construction and infrastructure projects in locations without an available connection — tunnels, motorway sections, bridges or industrial buildings outside built-up areas.

Moving plants

A plant that travels from one site to another. Its own generator travels with the technology and operation is immediately ready at the new location.

Insufficient connection

Sites or industrial areas where a connection is available but its capacity is insufficient for the full output of the plant — the generator supplements or replaces the grid source.

Long projects with own concrete

Projects with a long construction period and on-site concrete production — where supply from an external plant is logistically disadvantageous or impossible.

Certainty-critical operation

Situations where reliable power is key regardless of the state of the distribution grid — standby or primary source according to the specific requirement.

Primary source or backup — it depends on the specific deployment

Primary and standby use differ in output sizing, connection configuration and fuel capacity requirements. A correct design starts with a clear answer to how the generator should work in your operation.

Generator as the primary source in the field

  • Where no connection exists or its capacity is insufficient.
  • Sized for continuous operation — higher fuel autonomy.
  • Container or trailer execution for easy relocation.

Generator as a supplementary or backup solution

  • Where the connection covers basic operation but not peak loads.
  • Backup for critical production phases — mixing, dosing, control.
  • Automatic takeover possible with ATS where it makes sense.

What must be considered in the design

Output including peaks

Total consumption of the technology including motor starting peaks. For mobile concrete plants we usually move in the range of 200–750 kVA, always according to the specific configuration.

Starting currents

Motors of the mixer, conveyors and compressors draw several times more at start. The generator must handle these peaks without failure or overload.

Duty regime

A generator as the main source for field operation requires different sizing than a standby solution supplementing an existing connection. Each case is addressed individually.

Autonomy

The required length of continuous operation determines the fuel tank size — from one shift through all-day operation to several days without refuelling.

Mobility

The transport method, weight, dimensions and the requirements for fast installation at a new location. Container or trailer executions ease the move with standard transport.

Site conditions

Terrain conditions, dust, humidity, temperature and foundation stability. A mobile unit must work reliably in a demanding construction environment.

Noise

Distance from inhabited areas or statutory limits on site may require acoustic measures — a canopied unit or container execution.

Service

Access to service support, spare-parts availability and contracted service corresponding to the duty regime and location of deployment.

Parts of the technology that influence the power design

Mixer motor

The main mixer motor is the largest consumer of the plant. Its starting current is several times higher than the operating draw — a key parameter for sizing.

Dosing

Precise dosing of concrete components (aggregate, cement, water, additives) requires reliable power for the drives and control elements of the dosing equipment.

Conveyors

Belt conveyors for aggregate and screw conveyors for binders. Every motor contributes to the total consumption and has its own starting characteristics.

Compressors

Pneumatic circuits for operating closures, flaps and moving parts of the technology. Compressors are among the consumers with significant starting currents.

Control system

The PLC and control computer of the plant must have assured power for the whole operating time. A failure of the control electronics means a stop of the whole production cycle.

Heating and services

Water tank heating in winter conditions, lighting, ventilation and communication systems. Their total draw is included in the required output calculation.
