Generator for hotels

A generator for hotels helps secure operational continuity during a power outage. We design a suitable solution based on the size of the building, its technical facilities, ATS, operating demands and the required reliability.

  • AKSA outputs 20–3000 kVA
  • Quiet executions
  • Automatic changeover (ATS)

Why power continuity matters in hotel operation

Reputation is built over years and lost in minutes. Negative reviews from a power outage spread fast. A standby generator is an investment in operational certainty — and in protecting a reputation that cannot easily be replaced.

The right solution depends on the specific building, its technologies and operating requirements. Every case is addressed individually.

What an outage causes in a hotel

PMS and payments down

PMS systems, payment terminals, electronic keys, communication systems and booking infrastructure — without power the hotel stops functioning as a managed operation.

Guests in the dark

A lighting outage in an accommodation facility is an immediate problem for guests and for safe movement in the building.

Guests trapped in lifts

Guests trapped in a lift during an outage is an unacceptable and potentially dangerous situation, especially for older or disabled persons.

Gastronomy interrupted

An interruption of food preparation and the closure of the restaurant have a direct impact on guests and on gastronomy revenue.

HVAC stopped

Without power, heating, air-conditioning and ventilation stop — comfort and hygiene conditions across the building are endangered.

Security compromised

Camera systems, access systems and electronic room locks without power stop fulfilling their function.

Where a generator for hotels makes sense

Hotels of all sizes

From smaller hotels with dozens of rooms to large hotel complexes — an outage directly threatens the operation of the reception, restaurant, lifts and security systems.

Mountain and rural facilities

Smaller accommodation facilities, especially in mountainous or rural locations, where the outage risk is higher and technical help less available.

Apartment buildings

Residential and apartment complexes with central technical facilities — lifts, ventilation, water, access systems.

Wellness

Saunas, pools, whirlpools and wellness technologies require continuous power — an outage interrupts operation and directly affects the guest experience.

Remote objects

Mountain, rural or otherwise remote buildings where the distribution grid is less reliable or an outage may last longer.

Year-round operation

Accommodation facilities with continuous or all-year operation, where every outage means a direct impact on guests and the reputation of the facility.

ATS for hotels in practice

Automatic process

  • The ATS provides takeover without manual intervention — the generator starts and takes over the supply automatically on detecting a grid failure.
  • The transfer delay corresponds to the system configuration and the type of powered technologies. For sensitive operations a shorter transfer time can be set.
  • The whole process — start, transfer, standby, return to grid — happens automatically. The building manager receives information about the event, not the duty to intervene.

Coordination with the building

  • Standby power is coordinated with the PMS system, UPS backup, server room and other technical equipment of the building.
  • Circuit priorities (reception, lifts, IT, HVAC) are configured per project.
  • Setup is verified by a load test before handover.

What must be considered in the design

Total critical load

Total consumption of critical technologies — lighting, lifts, heating, air-conditioning, kitchen, reception. Output is set with respect to the simultaneity of operation.

Size of the building

A small guesthouse with a few rooms and a large hotel complex have completely different requirements. Output sizing starts from the concrete size and structure of the building.

Starting currents

Motor load (lifts, air-conditioning, pumping) draws more at start-up than in steady operation — this characteristic enters the sizing.

Automatic takeover

Automatic takeover without manual intervention is a condition in hotels — guests must not notice the outage longer than necessary. Transfer speed is designed according to the technologies.

Standby duration

Standby for the grid-restoration period or longer autonomous operation. Operating time determines the fuel tank size.

Quiet operation

Guest comfort requires a quiet solution. Canopied execution with acoustic treatment and a suitable generator location are the standard in hotels.

Placement

Technical room, outdoor installation, canopy or container execution — placement must match the building layout and noise requirements.

Fuel and safety

Integrated or separate tank for the required operating time. Refuelling access and safety requirements are part of the design.

Integration and service

Coordination with the building's main switchboard, existing installation, UPS backup and other systems ensures the functionality of the whole solution. Hotel operation runs all year — a service contract and emergency response must be available quickly, also outside working hours.

Standby power and ATS for hotels

Industrial generator units

Industrial AKSA generators with Perkins, Doosan or Volvo Penta engines. Outputs 20–3000 kVA for standby and continuous operation of accommodation facilities of various sizes.

Automatic transfer switch (ATS)

The transfer switch provides automatic takeover during a grid failure without manual intervention — guests notice only a short interruption corresponding to the system configuration.

Switchboards and coordination

Power and control switchboards, cable interconnections, coordination with the building's main switchboard and the existing installation.

Fuel storage

Integrated or separate tank sized for the required operating time. Larger reserve capacities are available for continuously running buildings.

Quiet execution

Canopied execution for outdoor installation or a technical room. Exhaust silencers and acoustic treatment to preserve guest comfort and the surrounding environment.

Alarms and service

GSM alarms and automatic notifications on fault, regular maintenance and emergency service response. The standby must always work — even in the middle of the night at full occupancy.

Which parts of hotel operation are usually critical

When designing standby power, it is determined which parts of the operation must work even during a grid outage. These are typically the following systems:

Lighting and basic operation

Standby for lighting in common areas, staircases and garages is the safety minimum — a standby generator keeps the full operation of the building running.

Lifts

Lift blockage during an outage restricts movement across the building and can trap passengers. Lifts are a priority circuit in multi-storey buildings.

Access systems

Chip access, entrance turnstiles and the camera system must work regardless of the state of the distribution grid — this is about safety and property protection.

Server room and IT

An unplanned server shutdown causes data loss, interruption of applications and an outage of the company infrastructure. IT backup is a necessity for office buildings and hotels with a server room.

HVAC

Air-conditioning and ventilation are among the largest consumers in accommodation buildings and fundamentally influence the sizing of the standby source. Without them the building stops being operable in summer and winter.

Building security

Alarm systems, motion detectors, emergency lighting and camera monitoring must work even during an outage — precisely then the risk of a security incident is highest.

Czech projects — scope as agreed

For Czech projects the delivery may include, as agreed: generator supply, design of the installation, commissioning on a prepared site, turnkey realization and a service contract. The scope is always clarified together during consultation and confirmed in the quotation.

International supply — EXW CZ/NL

International direct sales are preferably EXW Czech Republic / Netherlands; transport is agreed individually. Installation and service abroad are possible in agreed cases and are always confirmed individually by location and model. Manufacturer warranty.
